J O B  D E S C R I P T I O N 

The responsibilities of this role include a combination of floral design and retail tasks. Some weeks will be more floral focused with others being entirely retail duties. The position is perfect for someone with a strong interest in both areas. You will be expected to open and close the shop, process flowers, complete flower shop cleaning and organizing, take orders, design flower arrangements, learn about all products offered, provide excellent customer service, reach sales goals, complete transactions and operate POS system, maintain the shop and retail displays, manage inventory and supplies, create re-stock lists, contribute to social media content, and more. 


Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S 

The successful candidate will be someone who has either A) floral design experience or B) retail + design experience. 

Candidate must have a:
A) Minimum of 1 year of flower shop experience
B) Minimum of 2 years of retail experience PLUS work experience in design (interior or graphic ideal)


Option A) Qualifications for florists:
- Provide extensive portfolio highlighting skills with bouquets and vase arrangements
- Comfortable and capable of working independently, preferably with management experience
- Knowledge of and skilled at processing incoming flowers, identifying flowers, and taking flower orders
- Confidently price out flowers and designs with little to no assistance
- Retail flower shop experience and strong customer service skills
- An interest in retail beyond flowers and floral design


Option B) Qualifications for retail and design:
- Possesses strong sales and customer services skills
- Enjoys interacting with customers and feels confident in their ability to foster social connections
- Thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage multiple projects at a time
- Shows initiative, detail-oriented, can anticipate needs, and meet tight deadlines
- Productive, self-motivated, and enjoys working alone
- Can provide detailed portfolio with images of their interior or graphic design work
- Strong interest in learning more about florals and floral design
- Experience with photography and editing preferred
- Can provide their Instragram account showcasing their style, social media skills, and photography



The seasonal position begins with part-time hours starting in April or May 2021. The role transitions into full-time hours by July or August 2021. Seasonal end-date is late September to October with the possibility of an extension or permanent job offer. Weekend and weekday availability required April-October. It is a small team and there are limited vacation days available for July-October. 

Due to the nature of the position and starting part-time hours (possibly as low as 5 to 10 to begin) we request that all applicants seriously consider their needs prior to applying. The hourly rate will be reviewed every six weeks with the possibility of an increase. The starting hourly rate is $14.50-15.25.


Valid Ontario driver's license, vehicle, able to lift up to 50lbs, standing for extended periods of time, and can guarantee availability April 1st-October 31 2021 with no exceptions. This position is not open to students completing a spring term or returning for a fall term if they have in-person or video courses/learning from April 1st-October 31st 2021.
